Skye Adams is starting her Sophmore year in high school, and like many other girls in her small Northern California town, she has dreams of becoming a famous Hollywood Actress. Although she was recently diagnosed with Kidney disease which prevents her from leading a normal life and knowing the chances of success in Hollywood are slim, her biggest obstacles are her low self-esteem and severe social anxiety. Too embarrassed to even admit her dreams to anyone, she feels she will never be able to make the change within herself that will give her the courage she needs to go after her dream. The town seems stagnant with nothing to offer, that is until Jesse Steele; a new guy from L.A. arrives and takes an immediate interest in Skye. After a few chance encounters, she cannot deny their strong connection, and she finds his ambitious nature and positive attitude to be infectious. Skye immerses herself into Jesse’s wild world of racing and running around with the Branson Gang. Although her parents disapprove of him and see him as no good, Skye knows this is not true. As they become closer, they admit their love for one another and become inseparable. Jesse’s love for Skye is proven when he risks his own life to give her a new one. Now, Skye can go after her lifelong dream, but because of Jesse’s involvement with the Branson gang, it may be too late.
Luis Silva is an ambitious teenage boy with nothing more than a guitar and the dream of using his music to get himself out of the slums where he works in the fields for just a few dollars a day. While Luis spends his free time buried in his music and chasing his dream, he is blind to the fact that the cartel is gaining power and threatening everyone he cares about. His friend Alex tries to persuade him to join Los Guerreros, a group of civilians who aim to put a stop to the Cartel’s dominance and needless violence by disarming them and driving them out of their neighborhoods. Luis may be blind to what the cartel is doing, but he is not blind to the injustice of his country. He begins to gain popularity through his music, but its message of freedom and desire for a better life is misunderstood as a cry for a revolution in the already fragile society. When he returns to work in the fields and witnesses the death of three innocent workers, he realizes the need for Los Guerreros and joins the fight as their leader. Now, outnumbered, outgunned and fighting against an enemy who has the president in their pocket, Luis and his soldiers might have taken on more than they are ready for, but they would rather die fighting than end up another helpless victim.
Josie, struggling to survive in the grip of the great depression is recently engaged, restless and tired of being over worked and underappreciated. All Josie wants is to get married and start a new life with James; preferably as far away from the Dust Bowl as possible.
While working as a waitress, Josie meets Vander Kane, a well-known playboy millionaire in the U.S. to look for couples to join his paid study about relationships. At first glance, Josie is struck by his appealing looks, and although she finds him insanely attractive, she sees him as nothing more than a spoiled rich boy exploiting desperate people in their time of need. Vander wants her to be part of his study and after much deliberation, Josie reluctantly accepts the conditions after her father convinces her how much they could all use the money to save the family farm.
After making the long journey to Spain in luxurious accommodations, Josie and Vander arrive at his mansion. Uncomfortable about being there in the first place, Josie feels even more out of sorts when the dinner conversation with the other guests turns lewd and later in the night she stumbles upon a steamy party taking place behind closed doors. Being newly engaged to James and having never been with a man, she is terrified of what may be expected of her, so she keeps her distance. This elusive behavior only draws Vander closer to her and makes him even more interested in her; and her alone.
After spending several weeks together, Josie’s dislike of him fades as her physical attraction towards him grows and has her questioning what her heart really wants.
At the age of five, after finding her mother murdered on the kitchen floor and having her father taken away to prison for life as the number on subject, Milena is sent to live with her aunt and uncle. The move was for her own well-being, but instead of a warm home she would spend the next thirteen years suffering all forms of abuse from her uncle and his many male friends. With no hope for a future, she feels desperate and alone, until she meets Jason, the handsome new mechanic at her uncle’s shop. They take an immediate love interest in each other, which ignites jealousy within her uncle’s best friend. Unforgivable trouble erupts within the house and darker family secrets are revealed when she learns it was her uncle that actually murdered her mother. Furious over the deception and having been raised by the very man that destroyed her family, Milena vows vengeance. She runs off with Jason and together they device a plan that will bring justice against all the guilty parties and allow the two of them to escape together and live the life they’ve always wanted.
After a crime filled life as an orphaned boy, Luke Kasey finally found a purpose at the cattle ranch where he was brought on to live and work. It was more than a home, it was a place of solace and rehabilitation where similar men with troubled pasts were taken under the wing of Leroy Quib, a peace-loving man who had seen enough of death while fighting in the civil war. Through his years at the ranch Luke befriends Celio a half Mexican half Nez Perce man with a similar story. Life is good at the ranch, but like every other homestead in the area trouble starts when rustlers begin surfacing and using force. Luke and Celio want to fight, but Leroy refuses to bring violence to the ranch. He instead has Luke and Celio go to the sheriff, but it proves useless. To keep the boys busy, Leroy sends them out on a cattle drive. Against their wishes, Luke and Celio go, and when they return they find the ranch had been attacked. The rustlers stole the remaining cattle, burned the ranch to the ground, and left everyone for dead.
Furious and vowing vengeance, Luke and Celio head out to find the men responsible. After recruiting a few like-minded men with the same enemy it’s not long before they question if it’s worth it. The target is much bigger than just a few men and killing them wouldn’t bring back what they lost. Instead of going after the few men who killed their mentor and burned down their ranch, they decide to pay tribute to Leroy’s honor and stop any further misfortune from happening to anyone else. Along the way, the group sets out on a quest together to cleanse the west of all those who plague it and prey upon the people who the law had turned their back on. It isn’t long before word of the newly dubbed Guardians of the west spreads far and wide and soon they are wanted dead or alive by both sides of the law, while growing to be living folk heroes in a time and place where it’s every man for himself.
